Excerpts from a play
Inspired by Irish public transport over the past few years I scripted a short play called The Three B’s. Here is a wee glimpse of it.
The Diary of a Tickle Pitcher
How do you write and perform a play when the call of the sea is so strong? Here is a little of how we managed to write, produce and perform Captain Wagtail in between salty adventures, dogs, boats, sculptures and general fizziness of spirit.
I like big boats and I cannot lie
Knowing nothing about boats other than some random quips about burning twenty euro notes at a time, dampness and general disgruntled tales of terror I was nevertheless intrigued.
Insignificance
A brief moment in time where I was living in that liminal place between vast changes. Much love and appreciation to the Oaklands family for providing that time so I could let go and get ready to jump.
How to Build a House…with no money or skills…
Off grid building- no experience, no tools… and very little cash.
Sail Cargo Ahoy!
Sending stuff by sail…the old fashioned new fangled way. We are leaving soon and may arrive in a port near you!
Making Marks
Mark making. We’ve done it everywhere. Caves, overhangs, bark, skin. It’s beautiful. It’s weird and it’s wonderful. The grappling for ways to make marks in a less destructive way has been consuming my thoughts.
Learning to Navigate
I didn’t expect to be curled up fetus-like, clutching my glasses and a head-torch in soggy gloved hands and praying for respite. It wasn’t the plan. Originally it had seemed like a little adventure that would usher in summer with a delightful gesture.
Peace on a green hill
A quick glance around at this gathering would take in the sight of a mild mannered parish priest, a shuffling troop of red cheeked boy scouts, a large dollop of middle-aged purple draped hippy type women, some bare-chested, hair-braided, very pale Irish ‘braves’ in leather trousers, some new agers drinking beer, alternative types in cast off army surplus gear, a few farmers and their kids and other various curiosities clutching instruments or shiny handbags and looking somewhat uneasy in this damp but lovely rural field.
The Do’s and Don’ts of Seed Saving
The Quick Guide to becoming a Seed Saver. The basics that should turn you into a proper seed fiend with jars and bags of abundance for future harvests.
Bill Gill’s shoes
Being a sort of straight Quentin Crisp suited him.
Everybody was called ‘Darling’. Attractive women were called ‘Lotus Blossom of Desire’ or ‘Delicious nubile’ in a voice that was a mixture of gravel and deep rolling bass-tones.
Tiny Living (part 2) Afloat
I had some rather large expectations as an aspiring pirate. It didn’t quite go as smoothly as I hoped. The first night I dreamt the boat tipped down at the bow and began to glug it’s way to the bottom of the sea.
Earth Pirating in a Pandemic
If there is one way to stay sane in a pandemic it is to stealth garden. I strongly advise it.
